We learned about the 1967 war when the bodies of the dead washed up on our shores. We were so estranged from one another then in a geography where we share a common fate that officially Turkey did not give it importance. In fact, it saw no harm in covertly cooperating with the Zionist oppressors…

The occupation that has continued for years in Palestine has reached our shores.

Israel has attacked, fired on and murdered unarmed Turkish human aid volunteers on ships carrying Turkish flags in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea in international waters. Israel did not just use force against volunteers from Turkey, but against volunteers and parliamentarians coming from different countries in the world. The conscience of humanity has been soiled with blood.

Those who have been inclined until now to perceive the pain and occupation of the Palestinians as “a problem that doesn’t concern us,” in fact, who try and present our people’s spirit of solidarity with Palestine as an unfair attitude towards Israel and who state at every opportunity how important an ally Israel is, should apologize to all of Turkey and humanity.

The Israeli occupation has reached our shores.

The Israeli occupation has exceeded Palestine’s borders and seized humanity’s conscience.

Israel’s making a military operation in international waters against the ships the IHH sent to aid Palestine and the murder of volunteers whose number is not yet fully known is an attack aimed at Turkey.

Israel has shown once again with its ruthlessness that it is removed from every kind of human considerations.

The attack on volunteers from all over the world who were sailing fully for humane purposes is an attack on Turkey and on those with conscience throughout the world.

It should be emphasized once again that the meaning of this attack is this: Israel’s occupation has reached the shores of Turkey.

Especially when it is thought of together with the interesting timing of the attack in Hatay…

The time truly has come to tell Israel to stop…
